Admission Information
Application for Admission
All students interested in applying for admission to the Academy should complete an application
which must be accompanied by a non-refundable required registration fee of $150.00
(check, money order, or credit card) to process the application. The check/money order should be
made payable to Sunlight Healthcare Academy. Applicants must submit all required
application documents to be considered for admission. Once a decision is made, an email will be
sent to the candidate with further instructions. Candidates will be contacted by the enrollment
specialist regularly to ensure the completed documents are received by the office.
Admission Requirements
All applicants must meet the following general requirements:
- Be 18 years of age or older and submit a valid picture ID and social security card.
- Background check (some employers may require a criminal background check).
- Provide evidence of good physical and mental health (through evidence of a physical performed by a licensed healthcare provider).
- Provide evidence of meeting immunization requirements.
- Providing a negative urine drug screening.
- Interview with the Director.

Evidence of High School Completion which may be include
- High school diploma or transcript
- General Education Diploma (GED)

Academic transcript from a post-secondary institution accredited by an agency recognized by the
USDE or CHEA or recognized by the State of Florida.
Academic transcripts or high school diplomas awarded in countries outside the US must be evaluated
by a member of NACES (www.naces.org) or AICE (www.aice-eval.org) for US equivalency.
Credentials in languages other than English must also be independently translated.
In addition, the Practical Nursing Program is open to all persons who meet the following requirements:
- Applicants must pass the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS), scoring at the Proficient level.

Provide proof of current certification by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation card.
In addition, the Associate Degree in Professional Nursing Program is open to all persons who meet the following requirements:
- Applicants must pass the TEAS Test: at the Proficient level to be admitted.
- Pass a Level 2 background check through the agency provided by the institution.

Provide proof of current certification by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation card. - Written essay on a selected topic
Current Licensed Practical Nurses who present an active, unencumbered license
and is currently working in the field, will receive credit for Fundamentals of Nursing
Prerequisites: candidates applying to the professional nursing program must have
earned approved general education and science credits prior to being admitted.
Sunlight Healthcare Academy requires the student to transfer General Education courses earned at a
State Licensed or Nationally Accredited (by an agency recognized by USDE or CHEA) institution
(maximum of 33 credits). Official transcripts with a grade of C or higher must be provided at the
time of admission to evidence completion of general education courses.
In addition, the RN to BSN Program is open to all persons who meet the following requirements:

Applicants must have an active RN Professional Nursing license, and have completed an
Associate of Nursing Program, evidenced by providing official transcripts. -
Applicants must present a verifiable professional nursing license at the RN level.
The license must be non-delinquent, active and free of disciplinary action. - Applicants must present their employment history on a resume.
- Applicants must present three professional references.

The institution must receive applicant’s official transcripts where they received their
associate degree in nursing. This degree must show at a minimum of completion of
60 credits with a minimum CGPA of 2.5. The associate degree must have been earned
at an institution approved by the Florida Board of Nursing on the date it was conferred.
Enrollment Process
The first step in the enrollment process is to tour the institution and meet with a school
representative to learn more about SHA, the programs, and the expectations of all students.
Personal Interview
A personal interview with each applicant is required prior to acceptance into the school.
We encourage you to bring your friends and family members to the interview. Both the applicant
and the family have the opportunity to learn about the training programs.
The personal interview also gives the institution an opportunity to evaluate the applicant
and determine eligibility.
Acceptance into the Institution
- The applicant will be informed of the admissions decision once all requirements have been met.
- If the applicant is under 18 years of age the parent/guardian must also sign the Enrollment Agreement.
Physical Location Policy
At the time of enrollment to Sunlight Healthcare Academy, the student’s physical location is determined
as reported in the application and the Enrollment Agreement. Students who reside outside the State of
Florida are not eligible for enrollment. Current students are responsible for promptly notifying
the Academy of any changes to their physical address, with updates submitted in writing.
If a student moves to a new address (within or outside the state) during their enrollment at
Sunlight Healthcare Academy, they must inform the institution of their new address. Within 14 calendar
days of notification to the Academy of the address change, the student will be notified in writing of
the impact on their ability to continue in their program of study. Given that Sunlight Healthcare
Academy is not authorized to offer its RN-to-BSN distance education program to students outside the
state of Florida and that all other programs are fully residential, students who move to any other
state will be required to withdraw from their program of study. A change of physical location may
impact a student’s ability to complete the program or gain employment in the field, including
eligibility for credentialing requirements for employment.
Reactivation of Admission Application
An individual who has been accepted for admission to Sunlight Healthcare Academy,
but who has not enrolled in any courses, may have their original application and fee active for
one (1) year from the term in which the individual was first accepted. In situations longer than
one (1) year the application process must start the process over.
Registration
Students are required to register for classes either through email or in person, registration
period is listed above on the institution’s calendar.
Orientation
Prior to attending classes, new students, as well as those returning to the institute after one
term or more of non-attendance, are required to participate in an orientation program.
Attendance is mandatory. This program is designed to acquaint students with the
policies of the institute. Students are also required to attend an e-library orientation during
their first term.
